Welcome to the Dallas Museum of Art’s education blog, Canvas. Working here at the DMA, we are lucky to be surrounded by all types of canvases—short and squat, long and lean, new and old! These works of art are the center of everything we do as we interact with visitors to the Museum, connecting people of all ages with art and inspiring our own creative endeavors.

A canvas can be the starting point for something amazing—a blank slate waiting for a splash of paint, a burst of creativity, an expression of who we are. Add an extra “s” and canvass becomes active—a way to examine, look closely, and think about the world around us. We hope that this blog will be both—a place to inspire, discuss, question, ponder, and celebrate the power of art and creativity. We’ll update the blog every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, so check back often!
